Cross Country Skiing in Fiemme Valley

Val di Fiemme is known everywhere in Italy as the cradle of cross country skiing. Here, cross country is very important for the athletes who live in the valley like Franco Nones, the gold medal winner at the Olympics in Grenoble in the 30 Kms. race, Giorgio and Bice Vanzetta and many others, as well as for the sports contests like the Marcialonga, the Nordic World Championships held for the first time in 1991 and then repeated in 2003.
The valley offers good cross country centres at Lago di Tesero and Passo Lavazè. Other tracks are available in the valley floor with the Marcialonga track and other tracks in Molina, Predazzo, Ziano and Bellamonte.

The valley has always paid particular attention to cross country skiing. Many sports fans choose this discipline because it permits a close contact with nature and lets you feel a deep sense of relaxation and wellness. The valley offers cross-country skiers a wide range of itineraries:
the sunny plateau of Passo Lavazé, with more than 50 km of tracks and whose favourable altitude (1,600-1,800 m) allows skiing until March-April;
the cross-country skiing centre (Centro del Fondo) in Lago di Tesero which was the race field for the World Championships;
Bellamonte (1,400 m) and the circuits near Predazzo, Ziano, Masi di Cavalese and Molina di Fiemme as well as the track of the "Marcialonga", the classic cross-country skiing event which has been held every January in the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa for the last thirty years, with finish in Cavalese.
