The Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme
The Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme is a several thousand years old institution, founded in 1,111 a.d. for the
protection and valorisation of the people in Val di Fiemme and its environmental and cultural heritage. Still today, the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme is responsible for the administration of community properties on its territory: mountains, fields and forests, they programme the cutting of the wood, a possible reforestation and cure the accessibility of the forests.
The institution was founded by a limited group of inhabitants and has been preserved during the course of history: Its
traditions and
customs have been preserved and orally handed down for centuries. They were unchanged until some changes occurred during the last century.
More than 11,000 of the 20,000 hectares of territory are composed of forests with predominance of the red fir of
Val di Fiemme, a precious resource of wood for local commerce and handcrafts. Still today, the exceptional quality of the wood and the professional processing guarantee a unique and inimitable product, and the efficiency of the sustainable forest economy results in an international eco-compatible brand.
