Cavalese in the Val di Fiemme

Cavalese is the "capital" town of the Val di Fiemme in Trentino. It's located at 1,000 meters above sea level and its district has almost 4,000 inhabitants. The town is situated in the widest part of the Val di Fiemme, on a terrace of glacial origin that directly overlooks the Lagorai chain. From here you can easily reach the ski-lifts at Cermis and the cross-country ski trails of Lake Tesero and the Lavazè Pass.

The "Marcialonga", an international competition of cross country skiing which is held every year and winds for 70 kilometers through the Val di Fiemme has its finishing point in Cavalese, highlighting the town's importance. This very prestigious event definitely helps to make this town and the entire valley very popular tourist destinations.

In summer too, Cavalese provides a starting point for excursions in the Trentino Alps, such as the Lagorai chain, and the nearby Latemar Dolomites. There is also a sports arena, an ice rink and numerous other sports facilities such as tennis courts, bocce and minigolf. Not to be missed are the festivals and traditional events that are organized in the summer season.

If you want to know more about the Val di Fiemme and its Magnifica Comunità we recommend a visit to the Bishop's Palace, headquarters of the Magnifica Comunità of Fiemme. The old town center is also home to the Centre for Contemporary Art.
